Basil Essential Oil

Basil is the Oil of Renewal and takes you away to the Mediterranean with its beautiful fresh and mood boosting aroma.  It has a warm, spicy and herbal aroma and due to it’s pure distillation and can be used as an addition to foods such a meat and pasta dishes - one drop at the most will do when using this oil in your cooking. It’s name stems from the Greek word Basilicos meaning ‘king’ or ‘royal’ and can be used aromatically to help you figure out what you want, the steps you need to take in order to do so, bringing clarity of mind. 

If you are feeling fatigued or overwhelmed Basil essential oil is incredible at helping you to feel rejuvenated and help to restore your body to its natural rhythms of sleep, activity and rest.  This can be used to help you feel more energised and will partner well with Peppermint, to help increase natural energy.  A few ways to use Basil essential oil are: 

Try applying it to the temples and back of the neck when you are experiencing tension. 

Basil is beautiful in a neck, shoulder and back massage so try blending it with Wild Orange and Geranium for an uplifting and aromatic massage with a carrier oil of your choice. 

A fresh cut grass diffuser blend is - 1 drop of Douglas Fir, 1 drop of Basil and 2 drops of Lemon to help bring the freshness of outside in on this cold winter days. 

This is also a great essential oil to use to help promote clean, clear and healthy looking skin or use with Melaleuca (Tea Tree) and Rosemary essential oils, diluted with a carrier oil, for a stimulating scalp massage which will help promote hair strength and vitality
